1 tsp salt
2tsp bicarbonate of soda
40g butter
1 tsp caster
375ml buttermilk (or 375ml milk and 1 ½ tbl sp lemon juice/white vinegar)
If making buttermilk substitute stir the acid into the milk and leave to stand at room temperature for 10 minutes.
Preheat the oven to gas 5. Lightly grease a baking tray.
Combine flour, salt and bicarb. Rub in the butter and stir in the sugar.
